2º Participation Forum: session in two languages, Portuguese and English, open to the public
Saturday, 1 September 2012 from 15h00 to 17h00
Place: Caixa Agrícola, Monchique
The UN Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development took place in June 2012. The countries present at the conference renewed their commitment to sustainable development and to ensuring the promotion of an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable future for our planet and for present and future generations.
The Conference encouraged local authorities to develop and utilize sustainable development strategies as key instruments for guiding decision-making and implementation of sustainable development – through the Agenda 21 process.
Monchique Council is developing the local action plan through an extensive process of consultation and public discussion. The plan aims to promote sustainable development by defining and setting out a strategic vision for Monchique’s development. This is the second public forum and will provide an opportunity to discuss the priorities for the alternatives identified during the previous consultations.
