The Monchique Hunting and Fishing Club celebrated its 25th Anniversary on 18 January 2015. This association is one of Monchique’s six hunting clubs.
The hunting associations manage the municipal hunting areas, ensuring the maintenance of existing infrastructure (roads, firebreaks and water points) and permitting the creation of space within the forest for game populations and to prevent and control forest fires. They maintain habitats, enhancing wildlife (by providing refuge, food, breeding areas) and keep open the roads that serve these rural areas.
The association’s 25 years demonstrate their commitment to the development of hunting, fishing, recreational and sports activities. It is a good example of how the associative movement contributes to the vitality, the importance and economic potential of Monchique. Congratulations and best wishes for many more years.
