Acorn harvesting walk

On Saturday, 29th October, there is a walk to collect acorns from Monchique oak trees, to supply the nursery for replanting the seedlings in Monchique next year. Afterwards we will lunch in a local restaurant.

Meeting point: 10h00 at Pé da Cruz, in the Intermarché parking. Wear suitable clothing for a short walk, gloves and a cloth bag for the acorns.

Maintenance of oak plantations

On Saturday, 5th November, we’ll carry out maintenance of the “Monchique oak” – Quercus Canariensis – plantations from last year.

Meeting point: 09h00 at Pé da Cruz, in the Intermarché parking. Wear suitable clothing for rural work, gloves, water and a snack to share.

A Nossa Terra celebrates 20 years

On Saturday, 5th November, we will celebrate 20 years of the association. After the maintenace work in the morning, there will be a birthday lunch from 14h00. It will be a buffet at 10€ per person.

Transition Group “Magusto” Bonfire

To celebrate the fall and roast some chestnuts, the Transition Group will hold a “Magusto” at João Vila’s farm, Quinta do Pomar Grande on Sunday afternoon, 6th November, from 14h00.
There will be roasted chestnuts and organic wine. Come join us!

Reforest Portugal

In Portugal, the Monchique oak tree grows only at the Monchique mountains. Those with some land ready for planting or interested in planting trees can sign up for this activity through the info@anossaterra.org or 963 559 253.

 

Planting Monchique Oaks with Grupo Flamingo

A Nossa Terra has a planting program with Monchique oak trees – Quercus Canariensis, and some other tree species. This activity will take place on the weekends of 19, 20 and 26, 27 of November.
Meeting point: 09h00 at Pé da Cruz, in the Intermarché parking. Wear suitable clothing for rural work, gloves, water and a snack to share.

Organic farming course
The Monchique Agricultural Cooperative is organising a certified course in organic farming with CONFAGRI. The need 15 participants. Reuse Books for Free
The office of Nossa Terra has a lot of books available for reuse. Come in, take what you like, and leave a donation. German/English/Portuguese available
Some of them will be offered to some local accommodations. If you are interested in share reuse books with your guests at your establishment, contact us: admin@anossaterra.org.

Errata: In the last bulletin we included an “event for the climate” in Tavira on 29 November. That was a mistake. This year Tavira in Transition has a different programme of films and other activities against the construction at Balsa and petroleum and gas development in the Algarve.
